17/09/2011 Hull City 1-0 Portsmouth: Pictures Of The KC Stadium

It took just under five hours to drive to Hull on Saturday and I arrived in plenty of time to have a good look around the KC Stadium and take some pictures before the game.

I parked in the Town Centre close to Hull's equivalent of Port Solent and walked to the ground by following the public signposts.

This was the second time I'd visited the KC Stadium, I didn't get the opportunity to have a good look round last time, but I remember it being an impressive modern sports stadium and it is. It hosts football and rugby league matches.

There is a clear focus on this being a stadium for the 'community' as a whole and it has some really nice features: the path leading through the park up to the Main Entrance with its unusual street lighting, the shape of the floodlights and the images of the footballers and rugby league players in the glass frontage of the West Stand.

Enjoy the pictures, the weather wasn't too bad on the day so there are some good shots with blue sky as well as one or two with impressive cloud formations - my goodness I've turned 'all arty'.
This is the first good view of the KC Stadium from the public footpath that takes you to the ground - note the tethered horse!

You may recall my observation on tethered horses from the trip to Middlesbrough? Well, there were two more here, happily munching away, wiling away the hours, minding their own business...before 18,000 football fans descended on their world. I guess they become used to it.

After the game, as I walked back in to town, there were some local lads having their pictures taken with one of the horses - trying to mount it however wasn't such a good idea and it kicked out, being just a little bit agitated at the line being crossed.
The terrace steps at the end of the public footpath to the KC Stadium from the Town Centre. This got a bit crowded immediately after the game!
