I thought it would be interesting to track the story of Portsmouth FC during 2012 on a day-to-day basis through those tweeting using the hashtag #Pompey.
Ummm. Good idea? Bad idea? Well, let's see how far I get with this.
As I write on January 1st 2012 it seems like quite a good idea - but I have a tendancy to get bored very quickly so my initial enthusiasm may wane. If it becomes too time consuming that'll no doubt be a killer too.
If this page disappears you'll know it wasn't a success but if you're reading this on December 31st 2012 it should be a good sign. But hold on! What on earth are you doing?! Get out and celebrate for goodness sake! You can read this tomorrow!
Anyway, yes I know there are Twitter analysis tools out there and maybe I'll get to use one of those in the future. Any suggestions would be warmly welcomed.
For now I'll endeavour to do this 'manually' by reading and choosing those tweets I believe reflect the mood of the day; seem a bit quirky; are funny and made me laugh; made me go 'Oh!' or 'Ohhhh!!'; or just seem worth capturing as part of this story. I'll aim to select 3-5 tweets a day but sometimes there may be less sometimes a few more, especially on match days and during major off field activities which happens quite a lot at Pompey! God I'm flexible, making it up as I go along.... ;-D

News broke during the afternoon that Pompey had failed to pay their players and staff their wages. The Club's bank accounts were frozen as a result of the HMRC winding-up petition.

Mid afternoon Portsmouth FC was issued with a Winding Up Petition by HMRC for unpaid PAYE from December of £800K. Since the petition was raised a further £1M (VAT and PAYE) has become due for payment (Source: www.portsmouthfc.co.uk).
